Message from Owen Alexander – As my time at TNIS finished last Friday, I want to thank our parent community, present and the past, for the support that I have received over the years as Principal. It is an easier role when parents have high expectations of learning and behaviour for their children but more importantly when their children bring those expectations as well. We are indeed a lucky school. I wish you and your families the very best.

Senior Leadership Team Term 2 and 3 – With Owen’s departure last week, Lorene Hurd will be the Acting Principal and Sandy Dagnino will step into Lorene’s role as Deputy Principal.

Parent/Teacher Meetings – An email was sent out on Thursday with details about the 10 minute Parent/Teacher Meetings scheduled for Term 2 Week 2.

Tuesday 9 May 3.20pm – 5.00pm

Thursday 11 May – 3.20pm – 5.00pm and 5.30pm to 7.30pm.

You are invited to book a time that suits your schedule using the online booking system. Please go to www.schoolinterviews.co.nz

Then enter the code 9dtuu and follow the instructions. If you have any difficulty using the online booking system, please contact Tina Stenberg in the office (09) 489 3940.

You are welcome to bring your child to this meeting but it is not a requirement. You are also welcome to bring other members of your family or whanau.

Noel Leeming Fundraising – With support from Noel Leeming, we are running a Friends and Family Fundraising event from Monday 8th to Sunday 14th May.

Whether you’ve been dreaming of a flash new TV or a funky new phone cover, this is your chance to save big and support our school.   During this event our local Takapuna store will be discounting, tocost +10% with 2.5% of those sales going back to our School!

All you need to do to support the school is save the attached flyer to your smart phone/device or print it out and bring it with you when you shop at Noel Leeming during 8-14 May.

To make this the most successful fundraiser ever, we encourage you share this flyer with your extended friends, family, business contacts and colleagues.

We sincerely hope with the support of our extended family and friends network we can make this the most successful fundraising event ever.

Motutapu Camp Updates – There are 11 classes that did not get to go to Camp in Term 1. This was mainly due to the unseasonal weather conditions. Many camps were cancelled as the Ranger decided that the conditions at the campsite were unsafe and unsanitary.

We are currently investigating an alternate camp experience for the classes that missed out to take place next term. As soon as this is organised, we will let parents know. If this alternative experience cannot be organised until Term 4, we will refund all monies to parents. We hope to have a decision about this, very soon.

Music Education Centre Lessons – Congratulations and well done to all the students that started

music lessons here at school this term with the Music Education Centre.  We have heard that those that

recently began lessons have shown signs of making good progress already, and all the children learning

in the programme will be getting written progress reports next term from their teachers.  There are some

spaces available for new students to start next term particularly for violin, and piano but if you would
