26 Northcote Road, Takapuna I Phone 09 489 3940

At Takapuna Normal Intermediate School (TNIS), we are committed to fostering a positive learning environment where every student can thrive, and regular attendance is fundamental to this success. Our TNIS STAR Attendance Plan prioritises school hours for learning and aims to minimise disruptions through proactive measures, such as scheduling parent-teacher meetings after school and recognising consistent attendance at the end of the term.We believe in maintaining clear and open communication with our whānau regarding attendance expectations from the moment of enrollment. To keep you informed, attendance data is included in both mid-year and end-of-year reports, and we utilise automated systems to quickly notify parents of any unexplained absences.

We recognise that various factors can impact a student’s ability to attend school regularly, and our team is dedicated to providing support tailored to individual needs. Whether it is offering online learning resources for short-term justified absences, providing assistance with uniforms and food, or collaborating on personalised attendance improvement plans, we are here to help remove barriers to engagement. For students facing more significant attendance challenges, our leadership team and SENCO work closely with families and external agencies to develop supportive strategies that encourage a return to regular learning. By working together, we can ensure every TNIS student is supported to attend, engage, and succeed.
